WFA MEETING MINUTES

6/26/10

Continuation of the meeting from June 12, 2010.

 Starting at 10:05am.

 

Jeff Morhous stated meeting was a continuation of part II.

Minutes of previous meeting read by Jeff Morhous – which were hard to make out.

Walker calendar to be picked up by Deb Klemkosky.

 

Went to meeting:

July 3rd picnic update:

Marsha said the picnic will start at 11:00 – 3:00pm. Set up at 9:00am. Need to have fire vehicles out of the bays by 9:00.

Charlie Hyman to set up sound system and is looking for music for the event.

Shelly Morgan to set up the cake walk and face painting.

Victoria Morhous is setting up the Hopscotch.

Trevor Naugle setting up the Horseshoe Pit.

Menu for the Picnic will be Hotdogs, Chips, soda or water and a cookie for $3.00. Hamburger, chips, soda or water and a cookie for $4.00.

Need cakes for the Cake Walk.

Jacqueline Michelson will run the Cake Walk.

Betsy Bykerk will supply the paper products.

Myra Nathenson will pick up the Hamburgers and hotdogs from the store.

Susan Naugle is bringing the condiments.

Trevor Naugle and Jack Smades will pick up sodas/ice/water. Myra reminded them there are Fry’s and Wal-Mart coupons.

Phil Zink will do the hayrides.

John Horvat will handout balloons and supervise the games.

Freckle’s, the horse, will be giving horseback rides. The group was asking about an Insurance Binder for the horseback rides.

Betsy Bykerk requested John Horvat ask all the Board Members to bring 2 dozen cookies each for the picnic.

Bob Loughrige will have the Fire Station cleared of vehicles by 9:00am on July 3rd.

Jean Lupa wants her handicap sign back up at the Fire Station.

Board wants grass cut for the games.

Susan and Jean will be setting up their merchandise tent.

Ice Cream Social. Marsha Smades is the coordinator. 2nd Saturday in August, from 1:00-3:00. Bud Mellor no longer is handling the Car Show. Trevor Naugle offered to take it over.

Marsha Smades wants funds from Ice Cream Social to go to the Fire District Formation. This started a very lengthy discussion with individuals expressing their desires, some being repeated 8-10 times.  May end up with 2 donation boxes at the upcoming events. One box is for the WFPA and the other is for the Fire District. Individuals can make their own decision of where they would like their donations to go. Betsy Bykerk said she would give her resignation. Unclear of outcome on this decision.

John Horvat is to discuss with the WFPA Board about the distribution of the funds.

Mayoral Race – Victoria Morhous reports we have 10 candidates. There were 20 at this time last year. Before today’s votes, $368.00 has been raised. She is giving the donor’s the options for funds distribution to go to either the Fire District or the Fire Department.

John Horvat questioned if Gold Panners had been called for the picnic. Myra said there is no income generated from the Gold Panners and now it’s too late to call.

Victoria Morhous has 10 live Auction items and 10 silent Auction items for the Artoberfest. She has decided this is not enough to have this in October. They will cancel for now and seek a refund from the Hassayumpa Hotel.  Is looking at possibly having it in the Spring. Wants the proceeds to go to the Fire District.

Walker Calendars – New chair person for this is Deb Klemkosky. Jeff Morhous would like the community to bring their photos for the 2011 calendar to the next WFA meeting in July. At that time, pictures will be chosen for the new calendar.
